About

This technology allows dental professionals to conduct occlusal measurements with the highest degree of accuracy, and subsequently provide their patients with the highest quality of care.

Dental malocclusion refers to the misalignment of teeth. Common types of malocclusions include, overbite; crossbite; crowded teeth; open bite; and/or underbite.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the prevalence of dental malocclusions is between 39% and 93% in children and adolescents. Further, with the exception of altering some lifestyle practices, dental malocclusion is predominantly regarded as a condition which is unpreventable.

If undetected or left untreated, dental malocclusions can cause a host of secondary oral health and overall complications for the effected individuals. These complications can include, speech impairments; difficulty chewing; gingivitis; tooth decay; and overall pain and discomfort.

DENTOPAD was designed to address this perpetual need to conduct occlusal measurements. The founders conceptualized utilizing the latest technology to simplify the measuring process for the practitioner and the patient, and providing the most precise degree of occlusal measurements.

DENTOPAD’s primary objective is to enhance the quality of care surrounding the treatment of malocclusions. Through early detection and accuracy in measurements, dental practitioners are able to create effective treatment plans to address this condition, thus improving the overall patient care experience.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Articulating paper, the traditional method of measuring dental occlusions, has been widely criticized by clinicians and patients alike. Not only is the process tedious to administer, it is also uncomfortable and time consuming for the patient. Further, using articulating paper involves assessing the markings created by a patient’s teeth on paper, and as such it lacks precision and accuracy. Relying on such out-dated methods, dental practitioners have struggled to create truly effective treatment plans, and the patient care experience has suffered.

DENTOPAD is a device used to measure dental occlusions, which contains both hardware and software components. The device is comprised of a small pad with pressure sensors. The sensors relay a 3D evaluation of the patient’s mouth to a display screen using Wi-Fi technology.

This highly detailed visualization of the patient’s mouth allows the dental practitioner to view the teeth from a variety of different angles to precisely conduct measurements, accurately determine the contact points, and identify the maxillary and mandibular allocation points during all forms of natural tooth occlusal adjustments and prosthesis insertions. Further, the addition of Wi-Fi technology allows practitioners to cast this 3D visualization in high resolution, to the display screen(s) of their choosing, adding another level of ease and convenience.
